Here is your ticket….come sit next to me.  Do you want to sit in the front or the back?  Personally, when it comes to roller-coasters…I prefer my seat in the middle.  This is a brand new ride,  I don’t know much about it…so let’s just sit down and let this coaster take us on the course it’s set to travel.  Deep breath….GO!!!

(Hair is windblown…white-knuckled fists still gripping the handle bar…eyes wide like saucers…grin as big as a Cheshire cat) The roller coaster just pulled back into the docking station and we get out of the cart on shaky but excited legs.

That my friends it what reading, “From Ashes” by Molly McAdams was like for me.  From the opening chapter, I knew I was going to have my heart wounded.  I knew there would be flesh wounds and maybe some burns..but I never imagined the kind of torture and turmoil that Ms. McAdam’s would bestow upon me.  Nor could I imagine the kind of love, need, and want that could still be found in a book filled with so much heartache.

Cassidy Jameson is a beautiful, kind, caring girl…how she got that way is beyond even my wildest imagination.  She has lived a life of torture that even those who have been abused would fear.  Yet she is still standing and with the help of her life-long best friend Tyler, she is able to put the past behind her and try to start looking forward to a future.  When Cassidy and Tyler move to Texas, so that Tyler can attend college with his cousin Gage, Cassidy had no idea that her life was about to change.  From the moment Gage laid eyes on Cassidy he knew he was born to love her.  The only thing standing in his way….Tyler.

“From Ashes” is so much more than your typical love triangle.  Ms. McAdams writes a beautiful and often tragic story of pain, love, loss, strength, and redemption.  She allows her characters to grow and learn from their mistakes and well as forgive each other and most importantly themselves.  While this book is filled with angst and heartache, it is also packed with romance, love, and lust.  Ms. McAdams has you feeling the desire and sexual chemistry in every single encounter that our two lovers share.

In the end, just like getting off a roller-coaster, you may feel exhausted and winded…but you will no doubt feel happy that you took the ride!
