There’s this place that my family and I love to go for dinner. I’m sure you probably have a place just like it. You know… the place itself is kind of small and cramped. The tables and chairs are mismatched and slightly past their prime. The decor may have been great at one time (or maybe it always looked the way it does now) but now it’s kind of run down and tired looking. But the FOOD….oh my god! The food is AMAZING!!! Everything on the menu is fantastic. There isn’t a Friday or Saturday night when every battered offbeat chair isn’t filled with happy customers dining on what could only be described as happiness on a plate. Looking around I can tell that the ambiance has zero effect on the people who seem truly passionate about the food in front of them. Do you have restaurant/coffee shop/special place like that?
At the beginning of January I read “Rule” by Jay Crownover. I’m gonna be honest (as always), I was totally drawn in by the cover! – Look to the right..the guy is a tattooed hottie!! What I quickly found was the cover was nothing compared to the content. The book was fantastic. So why didn’t I blog about it? I didn’t blog about it because I promised you (my readers) to only recommend the books I LOVED! And while “Rule” was one of my favorite books to come around in a very long time….the editing was non-existent. I mean NO editing. I don’t want to sound dramatic but I actually mean there was no editing. The errors were distracting. Now…I was personally able to not only read but fall completely, totally, deeply, and madly in love with “Rule” regardless of the non editing but I was worried that you would hate me for having you buy a book with not just grammar issues but spelling and missing word issues as well. When I contacted Ms. Crownover to rave about her book but question the editing she informed me that the book was going through editing and would be re-released. Over the past few weeks I have watched as “Rule” has climbed the Amazon top sellers list. I kept questioning if my decision (about not blogging) was the right one. Yesterday I saw that “Rule had been edited and my Kindle updated. So I reread “Rule.” Here’s the deal. Like my favorite restaurant… the editing still needs work but like the food in the restaurant…the story is FREAKING GREAT!!!! So…I refuse to wait one second longer..here is my review of “Rule.”
“Rule” by Jay Crownover sucked me in from the minute I saw the cover… you know how much I love my tattooed bad boys (heehee)! But by the end of the first chapter I knew this story was going to take me places, emotionally, I hadn’t been in a long time…maybe ever…and I couldn’t wait to get there! Rule Archer – our hero is a tattooed, pierced, dark, damaged soul (just how I love them!). He oozes sexy out of every poor and every word and women will do anything to have him. Shaw Landon is a classy, uptight, classically beautiful pain in Rule’s ass but she has been Remy’s (Rule’s brother) best friend forever.
Ms. Crownover has written a story that is so breathtaking, so heart stopping, and so unforgettable that even when reading it the second time I felt myself cringe when things were bad and smile when they were good. Rule and Shaw are perfectly created characters that will steal your heart and having you cheering for them. EVERY ONE of the supporting characters are amazing and worthy of their own story…which is great because I hear that Ms. Crownover is going to give them exactly that!!! Yay!!!!
“Rule” is the kind of story that leaves you thinking about it weeks after you close the book. Not just because of the sexy as hell scenes…and yes my friends the scenes are SEXY! But because the conversations between the characters feel real, the situations hit home and hurt leaves you stinging.
So there you have it. I love this book!! I love it! Edit issues and all!
Please let me know what you think.

As always, listen to your Aunt Lisa, kids….she knows her stuff. This one grabbed me and didn’t let go.
I also read ‘Rule’ because I was drawn to the hottie on the cover & thought it was a great read, tho the lact of editing was distracting. I’m glad to hear it has been re released
So I finally read this one and I’m so happy you suggested it. It “kind of” reminds me of a younger version of Kristen Ashley’s unfinished heroes series (please don’t think I’m saying copying or anything bad). Just in that neither are perfect, but they make it work and love strong. I’m a sucker for a book that makes me feel and has a HEA. I truly can’t say enough good about this book except thank you for directing me to another great author and to everyone else read it!
I am so happy that you liked it Angela because I LOVED it. And your so right…it did have a certain KA feel to it. I can’t wait for Ms. Crownover’s next book. Thank you for getting back to me. I love hearing from you guys.
